Product Notes:
Premiere Napa Valley is a Midwinter Barrel Auction for the Trade that has become one of the world's foremost commercial wine auctions. The event, featuring one-of-a-kind wine lots, attracts a virtual who's who of the international hospitality and beverage trade to Napa Valley each February. This is one of the exclusive lots purchased by Meritage Wine Market.
Harvested from Jim Haire’s Vineyard located in the cool Carneros region, this wine was selected from rows in a specific block planted to the 667 clonal selection. This block produces small clusters of intensely flavored Pinot Noir which are considered for the ZD Reserve Pinot Noir every year. This 2005 Carneros Pinot Noir was rockin’ and it’s only going to get better. The Haire Vineyard yields one of the lowest tons per acre in Carneros and the Clone 667 has a tendency to produce rich, dense fruits with uncommon structure. The best part of this lot was that Mark sat down with Bret & Robert De Lueze and winemaker Chris Pisani and helped choose the final blend from the 4 best rows in the vineyard. On our next trip to Napa in March, we’ll taste this blend and make the last adjustments before bottling. Think rich berry aromas laced in Coca-Cola, a dense weighty texture and powerful finish…..this wine is Pinot Noir at it’s best and some of the best we’ve ever tasted from Carneros. We should see this shipment in time for the Holidays in October of 2006.
